Downtown | Apartment in Des Moines, Iowa
Perfect for couples or individuals, this loft includes a mini-fridge, microwave, and coffee maker, a smart TV, a comfy leather sofa, a full bath, and an incredibly comfortable pillow-top king bed you won't want to leave. Located within walking distance to an amazing international grocery story (C-Fresh) as well as a variety of delivery options. 1-2 miles from everything downtown.
Climb an old set of stairs (this house was built in the 1890's) to be welcomed by tall ceilings, ambient lighting and beautiful furnishings.
Wake up with a warm cup of coffee or tea and maybe even watch a movie in bed. The openness of the space creates a mood for enjoying the day at a leisurely pace.
The space has limited space in the dresser for clothes and the kitchenette is good for heating leftovers or ready-made basic meals, but is not equipped for meal prep.
This is the top story of an older home we renovated in 2018. There is a one-bedroom unit below that is also used for short-term stays. Noise does carry a bit between the two stories due to the older construction style; we ask everyone to be considerate of noise levels, take shoes off inside, no loud music, etc. We also have a white noise machine on the nightstand.
Other details to note:
We've owned this home since 2018 and have not had any problems with the neighborhood, however some people may feel uncomfortable with the higher-density and the state of some of the homes in the area. See the neighborhood description for more information about the area.
Neighborhood description:
The neighborhood is diverse and eclectic, and is often lively. The house is within walking distance of the C-Fresh grocery store, McDonalds, and the bus lines. You are a short drive away from Downtown and the East Village.
This home is in the River Bend neighborhood of Des Moines. It is a dynamic neighborhood where residents will say its greatest strengths are its location near downtown, its diversity, and friendly neighbors. This area was originally built out in the 1880's and features a wide array of architectural styles including Victorian homes on large lots, and craftsman, foursquare and colonial revival styles on smaller lots. Some of these houses have fallen into disrepair and the City has worked with Iowa State University and community partners on a plan for the neighborhood to encourage investment and redevelopment.
