Travel Purpose: leisure

Positive: the staff were genuinely friendly and approachable, each with their own vibe, and everyone i interacted with spoke excellent english. they were always happy to chat and help with logistics. they assisted me with changing dates for a volcano boarding tour with volcano day, and one night a staff member helped me arrange a private taxi late at night to las peñitas, his suggestion due to safety, which i really appreciated!! the dorm setup was pretty great - comfy mattress + privacy curtains were a big plus, and having a/c at night felt like a treat out there haha they were even open to adjusting the temperature when the room felt a bit cold for all of us. the location is another strong point — right next to a la colonia grocery store, close to the museo de la revolución, and a gym just around the corner, which made day-to-day logistics very easy.

Negative: the wi-fi was very slow, which was occasionally frustrating for me because it ate up a lot of time, as i needed to get a lot of work done while there. it was slightly better across the street at the main poco a poco, but still not ideal for anyone who needs reliable internet. the biggest downside is the bathroom situation. there are only two bathrooms for the entire place, (which i know is mentioned often in the reviews, but is worth repeating) and each one combines the shower and toilet. this often caused bottlenecks, and during busy hours everything stayed quite wet if someone had just showered. the hand towels in the bathrooms were also frequently damp and could benefit from being changed more often. additionally, the lockers in the dorms are quite small. they’re fine for valuables like a passport or laptop, but they don’t fit full backpacks, so you have to unpack items rather than locking up your entire bag.

Summary: a good, friendly hostel with solid comfort and location, but limited bathrooms and slow wi-fi.
