Rejuvenate in a beautifully styled and appointed California Craftsman home on a quiet upscale street and just two blocks from Twin lakes beach and Santa Cruz Yacht harbor. Walk to and enjoy great restaurants like the renowned Crows Nest restaurant. Or, spend a fun day at the beach using beach gear provided for our guests: umbrella, chairs and boogey boards.
The Harbor Beach House is an eco-friendly 'green' home featuring super efficient and cozy whole-house gas fireplace heat, radiant heat floors in the bathrooms, whole house instant hot-water heater, full sized, high-efficiency washer/dryer and filtered drinking water. Organic spa soaps and lotion.
About the house: Harbor Beach House is a two story custom home with wonderful attention to detail and furnishings. Guests can relax and rejuvenate in the wonderful beach town of Santa Cruz. You will enjoy a fully equipped gourmet kitchen with custom wood cabinets, gas stove and oven, granite counters Keurig coffee maker and top of the line stainless steel appliances. The lower floor has an open floor plan with the kitchen adjoining the living room and dining area, 1/2 bath with granite vanity. All rooms have mobile phone charging stations.
After a great day at the beach, have quick rinse in the warm outdoor shower and relax by the cozy gas fireplace watching the 42' plasma TV (not a smart TV, meaning it does not connect to the internet) or play some fun board games like Beach Monopoly. Free wifi is available upstairs and downstairs for guest laptops and devices. The living room looks out to the private patio with BBQ and outdoor seating. No garage access.
Upstairs*....: The upper level has three bedrooms and two full baths. Relax in the master bedroom on a king bed with premium mattress and bedding. This room has a flat screen TV, DVD, walk in closet, private balcony overlooking backyard, Pottery Barn furniture and bedding. The private bath has a soaking tub, granite two-sink vanity, radiant heat floors and custom 'rain' shower.
The second Hawaiian themed queen bedroom has flat screen TV and access to front balcony and shares the second bath just down the hall: deep tub/rain shower and radiant floor heating in second bath. The third bunk bedroom has bunk beds with custom 'vintage surfer' bedding, access to front balcony and shares the second bath. Beds comfortably sleep 6, no extra bedding or pull out sofa available. Additional guests may not spend the night in sleeping bags or on the couch.
Activities within a 5 minute walk: Enjoy the beach with lifeguards during the summer and fire pits at night, bring hot dogs and marshmallows for roasting! Lake fishing within 1 block, short walk to harbor with chartered sailing, paddleboard, kayak, fishing, whale watching and a free water taxi that circles the harbor in the summer (Memorial Day to Labor Day).
Things to do within a 5 minute walk: Twin Lakes Park with tennis courts, basketball and children's park combined. Harbor with boat and fishing tours, and restaurants at the beach: enjoy Johnny's Harbor Side with fresh fish market, Crow's Nest with live entertainment and dining deck overlooking the harbor or Cafe Palomar Mexican food. Sit on the beach outside of the Java Junction coffee bistro featuring the perfect cup of hot java with fresh pastries; free live jazz or ukulele music Saturday mornings!
The famous 100 year old Santa Cruz Boardwalk is within 10 min driving time, 5 minute drive to Sunday farmer's market on 15th St and East Cliff, antiquing in downtown Aptos is 15 min drive. Take a tour of our wineries or the Monarch butterfly winter home in Natural Bridges State Park (10 min drive), ask about wild life tours.
* Stairs from first level to upstairs bedrooms are not suitable for persons with mobility challenges. They are to code with handrail, but steep (no landing) with wood steps.
