A quick 20 minute walk to downtown Joshua Tree. By car it's less than 5. Although we are on a dirt road, it is smooth enough for any vehicle. All of the restaurants in town are in downtown on Hwy 62. There is some vintage stores, coffee shops, and even a rock store. For more options we are only a 15 min car ride from Yucca Valley and Twentynine Palms. Joshua Tree National Park entrance is also 15 min away.
Guests have access to the entire house, guest cabin and outdoor spaces along with 1.5 acres of desert flora.
ABOUT THE HOUSE
Welcome to La Sombra. From the moment we discovered this house (after over a year of searching) we knew this was the one. The architectural details, unique touches, and overall aesthetic of the home and the surrounding landscape were a perfect blend of European farmhouse and desert backdrop.
Over the last year we have built upon this amazing home, adding many of our own design touches, colors, hand-crafted textures, and one of a kind vintage pieces, both inside and out. Our goal and vision was to create a space that offered a calming escape from the often hurried-pace of life. Every detail has been designed with intent and purpose, from the well-appointed kitchen, to the cedar hot tub, and built-in couch with cozy down cushions, perfect for lounging after a long day exploring the desert or after a long day doing nothing at all.
Majestic sunrises flood the home and paint the windows and walls with pink and orange-hued light each morning, and the rainfall shower is a perfect way to start or end any day. Soak it in, unwind, and fall in love for the first time or all over again.
ABOUT THE OWNERS
We’re one guy born and raised in CA, one girl born and raised on the Turkish Aegean coast, and a shared passion for architecture, design, and the outdoors.
What started years ago with a simple weekend getaway would turn into an inescapable call from the desert, beckoning us to return. The sweeping skies, expansive open land, star-filled nights, and palpable serenity became an escape from our busy lives in Long Beach. Fast forward life, add two kiddos who now love the freedom and explorability of the desert, and we’re just as enamored as we were on that first visit.
Driving is recommended but if you feel like stretching out those leg after a long road trip, downtown Joshua Tree is a short 20 min walk.

Outdoor Surveillance: We have an exterior camera located in the south side of house on the Eve for guest's safety. No camera inside the house.
◦ Wildlife: this is the rural desert and we share the space with the wildlife. You may encounter desert ants, mice, coyotes, or if you’re lucky a bobcat.
◦ Authorized early check-in and late check-out are available at $50 per hour
◦ Additionally, any unauthorized late check-out beyond the 15-minute grace period will incur a $100 fee
◦ Items left behind will incur a minimum return shipping fee of $50, depending on the shipping address

* We are unable to accommodate cats due to the owner's severe allergy. Appreciate your understanding!
◦ RULES:
Noise ordinance:
Quiet hours are 10pm-7am. No external speakers allowed. Any noise related discrepancies will result in at least a $1000 fine.
◦ SMOKING POLICY
No smoking inside the house or within 10ft. Smoke residue will result in excessive cleaning fees
◦ Restricted Areas:
Any locked closet or room is restricted. If forcibly entered you could be held liable for any unaccounted for item.
◦ Hot Tub/Pool:
Hot Tub Use: Please avoid using the hot tub immediately after it’s been serviced, as chemical levels are temporarily elevated. We have weekly pool cleanings, this day may fall on your stay and your cooperation will keep the hot tub clean and balanced at all times.
Please rinse off any oils, lotions, or substances before entering the spa, as these can affect water quality and cause discoloration.
No drinking in the hot tub, please.
Be sure to keep the cover on when not in use, especially since we're in the desert and debris can easily get into the water.
Any misuse of the hot tub may result in an additional charge for extra maintenance.
◦ Photoshoots & Video:
No un permitted photoshoots or videoing at the home. If you would like to use our home for those purposes please send us a message. Any unauthorized filming will result in a $5000 violation and production fee.
