Amidst this idyllic mountain setting lies the little village Vierst with this listed farm and the holiday apartment. A large holiday apartment has been created in the 100-year-old barn, with great care and organic materials. You can take a break here and enjoy the historical charm and the relaxed atmosphere. The apartment is 100 square meters and is suitable for 4 people (maximum 5 people). The ground floor comprises the large living room with wireless Internet access, kitchen and bathroom, the upper floor a bedroom with a double bed and the attic a bedroom with two single beds and a WC. A supplementary bed and a children’s travel bed can be set up if required for a fifth person. A barn door opens into the ground floor and the spacious living room with a wardrobe and a very comfortable family sofa inviting you to relax, read or watch TV. The dining corner has a traditional big old wooden table and a matching corner bench in a historical style. The painted cupboard from around 1830 is particularly eye-catching. The four seasons are represented in an original way. The adjoining kitchen is fully-equipped and has solid beech wood furniture, modern appliances and a glass rear wall. The kitchen window serves as a hatch in summer, so you can have dinner on the terrace with a view of mountains and the sunset. The bathroom is generous and elegant. The tiles are made of blue granite. The wooden wash table with a large mirror and a marble sink is a modern interpretation of the antique washing dresser. There is a large walk-in shower. Barn stairs lead from the living room to the first floor with the bedroom with a double bed (180 x 200cm), a large wardrobe and a dresser with a mirror from the 1920s. The furniture has been carefully restored and invites you to enjoy a good night’s sleep in a historical ambience. The view through the windows and the former gate that straw and hay were transported through is of extensive meadows, fields and forests. Somewhat steeper stairs lead from the bedroom to the attic, which can be rented as an extension to the apartment and has two natural wood beds (90 x 200cm), a beautifully painted wardrobe from the year 1826 and a separate WC. Wireless Internet access is available. Outside there is a large meadow with mature trees and a variety of seating, as well as a campfire space, a little terrace in front of the kitchen window and a parking space in the courtyard area. The dream of individual accommodation in an old farm with a farm garden will become a reality here. The listed property has been restored over a number of years with great respect for the old building structure, mostly using historical craftsmanship and ecological materials, such as local types of wood, stone, lime plaster, clay tiles, clever wall and floor heating, handmade door handles and organic waxes and oils for treating surfaces. Careful attention was also paid to the furnishing. A mixture of antique and high-quality new furniture rounds off the atmospheric interior. For many who are not used to this unique ambience, a stay in this barn will be a sensual experience. This accommodation should be booked by guests able to appreciate it. The barn is not barrier-free. Take care when climbing the stairs, as the proportions do not correspond to modern-day norms. The owner accepts no liability for any deviations from a conventional 21st century house. The village Vierst is away from main roads on a slight elevation amidst fields and meadows. It consists today of seven farms and houses. You can buy fresh milk, honey and eggs from the neighbours. If you like hiking or cycling, then the house is an ideal starting point. It is a few minutes’ walk to a large forested area, the mythical Zeitelmoos and about two hours to the mountain massif with its wildly romantic rock formations. There are natural swimming ponds in Tröstau or Bad Alexandersbad, and the lake Weißenstädter See also invites you to swim in summer. In winter cross-country skiers are drawn to the many trails in the area. Downhill skiing is also popular on the maintained pistes in the high Fichtelgebirge. Whether you like culture or nature, are health-conscious or a gourmet, whether you are alone, a couple or a family: if you spend a holiday here you will find a wide range of recreational activities such as golf, hiking, climbing, cycle turs and trips to Weißenstadt to the lake, to Luisenburg with a rock labyrinth and festivals, or the neighbouring Bohemian spas Karlsbad, Marienbad and Franzensbad.
