“Castle on the Hill” was built in 2005 on five acres of gifted family land. There is a long history of family and still has strong sentimental value. This home is still lived in on a part-time basis. However, you will have the home and property to yourself once a booking is confirmed. This is not a Frat House nor to be used as one. We want our guests to enjoy the home and amenities with as much respect for the peaceful, serene setting as we have for many years.
The house is centrally located to many venues of interest which should make this an ideal site for your stay. It is a 15-minute drive to JMU Bridgeforth Stadium, 10-minute drive to Brix and Columns Vineyards, 11-minute drive to Massanutten Water Park and Skiing, 16-minute drive to Magpie Diner and 15-minute drive to Downtown Harrisonburg’s, Jack Brown’s Beer and Burger Joint.
You will be in a wooded environment with beautiful natural landscape of trees and underbrush. You will be sharing that space…. with nature. You may see bugs, birds, squirrels, fox, deer and an occasional bear. Enjoy watching the wildlife and be aware of your surroundings. Many of our house rules are in place to keep these animals from encroaching on your space. Some of these include proper disposal of trash, do not leave trash bags outside, do not leave food items outside, do not try to feed the wildlife and do not allow small children to wander through the woods unsupervised.
Due to the wooded environment, smoking on the property is prohibited.
Patio
There is a beautifully stamped concrete patio with an outdoor fire place in the back yard for your enjoyment. Every evening or if it there is a chance of rain, please return seat cushions to the deck box after use. You are welcome to build a fire, make smore’s and share a story or two. Do not burn treated lumber, household trash, waste, construction debris, rubber, plastics, vinyl or similar items. There is some firewood provided. Hot Tub
There is a Hot Tub just outside the lower level sliding glass door on the back patio for your use. You are using this at your own risk. Please adhere to the following safety rules:
• Shower with soap and water before you enter the Hot Tub
• Enter and Exit the Hot Tub slowly
• No jumping or diving
• Do not bring glass in or near Hot Tub
• Do not take food into the Hot Tub
• Do not use alcohol, narcotics or medications
• Elderly persons should consult doctor before use
• Pregnant women should consult doctor before use
• Children must be supervised by an adult
• Do not enter if temperature is over 104 degrees Fahrenheit
• Limit your soak to 15 minutes and cool off before re-entry
• Anyone with heart disease, diabetes, high/low blood pressure should consult doctor before use
• Anyone with a serious illness should consult doctor before use
• Replace Spa cover after each use
• Do not sit or lie down on the cover
• Turn off high jets after use
• Do not use soaps or oils in Spa
Interior
The home is professionally cleaned and sanitized prior to each new guest arriving. You will receive an invite for the touchless access prior to your stay.

Inside the home on the main level you will find three bedrooms, two full bathrooms, a fully stocked kitchen, laundry room (washer and dryer) and a living room with a gas fireplace. There is a tv in one bedroom and a tv in the living room.
Down the stairs into the walkout lower level you will find a bedroom, full bathroom, family room area with tv, a bar, a dart board, foosball table, kitchenette with full size refrigerator/freezer.
Smoking or Vaping is prohibited inside the home. We don’t sleep on your tables so please don’t eat/drink in our beds.
There are dogs who live in the home part time so it is not allergen free. This home is not “child proof”. Curious toddlers and small children should be monitored.
