There is a children’s play area to keep the little ones entertained and if you want to be creative, you can hire the owner’s pizza oven! The town of Southwell with its stunning minster and quaint shops is 5 miles away, and on route you could visit the local ice cream parlour and sample some local treats and home produced ice cream. The historic market town of Newark is 7 miles away with its market every Wednesday, or you can picnic in the castle grounds or take a boat trip on the River Trent. There is also the Civil War Museum. Newark showground is home to the Nottinghamshire County Show each May and a whole calendar of other events including international antique fairs. Also within a short drive are Rufford Abbey, Clumber Park and Sherwood Forest, home of the famous Robin Hood, with its visitor centre. Cresswell Crags offers a great day out too, and for the more energetic, try Sherwood Pines for biking and climbing adventures. The city of Lincoln is a 25-minute drive with its cathedral, home to the Magna Carta, and Victorian prison and castle.
