The largest moving dune is called Lacka Góra and is located in the area of the former settlement of Łączka, the so-called Sowie Mountains, next to the villages of Kluk and Smlodzina. The views are reminiscent of an African desert landscape. The dunes are located in the Słowiński Natural Park. This park was established in 1967 and was originally called the Kashubian Park. On the beach near Człopin, the sea has uncovered a prehistoric forest from 3000 years ago. Tree trunks, remnants of an oak and beech forest that had been destroyed by fire, were discovered in the Baltic Sea. The forest probably grew tens of kilometres from the coast and was destroyed by settlement or fire three thousand years ago.
